Benefits

The TWAS-SN Bose Postdoctoral Fellowship offers the following benefits and financial aid for the fellows:

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be under 45 years old by 31 December 2025
  • Be nationals of a developing country other than India
  • Applicants must not hold any temporary or permanent residency visa for India or developed countries
  • Be employed in a research position in a developing country (excluding India)
  • Hold a PhD in physics, mathematics, physical chemistry, or life sciences
  • Obtain a preliminary acceptance letter from a supervisor at the S.N. Bose Centre
  • Show proof of English proficiency (if prior education was not in English)
  • Commit to returning to their home country after the fellowship
  • Not take up other assignments during the fellowship
  • Cover expenses for any accompanying family members

Notes:

  • Application Limit: Applicants can only apply for one programme per calendar year from the TWAS and OWSD portfolios.
  • Not Eligible for Multiple Visits: If selected, applicants cannot participate in any other TWAS Visiting Professor programs in the same year.
  • Exception: Heads of institutions who invite scholars under the TWAS Visiting Professor program may apply for another TWAS program in the same year.
