Scholarship Benefits

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a non-Chinese citizen
  • Good physical and mental health
  • Strong academic and behavioral record

    • Current Chinese language teachers: 45 years old
  • Aspiration to pursue a career in teaching or international promotion of the Chinese language

  • Language Proficiency Requirements:
    • Master’s: Minimum HSK Level 5 (210 points) and HSKK Intermediate (60 points)
    • Ph.D.: Minimum HSK Level 6 (200 points) and HSKK Advanced (60 points)
  • Preference for applicants with proof of future employment in Chinese language education

  • Two letters of reference from professors or associate professors
  • 1,000-word essay on “Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages” (Master’s applicants only)
  • Personal statement in Chinese (Minimum 3,000 words) for Ph.D. applicants
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form (valid within 6 months)
  • Non-criminal record certificate (valid within 6 months)
  • Application fee: 800 RMB (non-refundable)

How to Apply?

Step 1: Online Application Submission

  • Register and apply through ECNU’s online portal and pay the application fee.

Step 2: Contact a Recommending Institution

  • Search for recommending institutions and receiving universities on the Center for Language Education and Cooperation website.
  • Obtain a recommendation letter and submit it online.

Step 3: Interview Notification

  • An email or call will be sent to the shortlisted candidates regarding their interview schedule.

Step 4: Track Application Status

  • Regularly check your ECNU online application account for updates.

Step 5: Admission and Enrollment
